Overview

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! As your school’s parent-teacher organization, we work hard to raise funds to support enrichment activities at West Campus. Our students benefit in many ways from a small, close-knit community; however, the school also struggles with a tight budget due to our small size.

WCFE aims to support the district in making West Campus a highly competitive, award-winning school. Your donations and our March gala fundraiser are two ways our organization supports the West Campus students, including Yearbook, Band, Drama, athletics, college tour, classroom texts, and scholarships. WCFE also contributes to community-building activities like the Unity Festival, staff appreciation lunch, and senior breakfast. To learn more, please visit our website.

You can keep in touch with the West Campus Foundation for Excellence by signing up for their newsletter here.

Equity Team Challenge – Week 4: Privilege

“Privilege exists when one group has something of value that is denied to others simply because of the groups they belong to, rather than because of anything they’ve done or failed to do. Access to privilege doesn’t determine one’s outcomes, but it is definitely an asset that makes it more likely that whatever talent, ability, and aspirations a person with privilege has will result in something positive for them.”

Equity Team Challenge – Week 3: Anti-Racism

Anti-Racist Definition: One who is supporting an antiracist policy through their actions or expressing an antiracist idea.

Being anti-racist does not require that you always know the right thing to say or do in any given situation but that you take action and work against racism wherever you find it including, and perhaps most especially, in yourself.

WCFE next meeting 3/13: Please join us on Monday, 3/13, for our next general membership meeting to see how we utilize our funds and to give us feedback. We did a survey early in the year that we have tracked and are working towards, on what people wanted us to focus on. We are now looking to convert this as well as new requests into a list of concrete projects, including both scope and cost and we will need your input. Join us at our meeting to discuss how we fund requests from teachers, administration, clubs, teams, and students.

Gala – Thank you to attendees, donors, and volunteers for supporting the Foundation’s annual gala fundraiser on February 25. We were able to make our goal of over $20,000 dollars raised. With your support, we hope to build on this and try to meet the needs of the school that are not able to be met elsewhere. More to come on the final amount raised by our 3/13/23 general meeting.

Why Volunteer and Give?

Post

The West Campus community members share how the West Campus Foundation for Excellence collaborates with students, teachers, administration, and families of West Campus High School, and why it’s important to volunteer and donate, if families are able to do so. The Foundation thanks the community for lifting up the amazing school and its students.
