Principal’s Update

Hello West Campus Families,
Thank you to everyone who attended the Unity Festival on Friday! Thank you to the Foundation for putting on a fantastic event – they spent a significant effort to prepare and implement and their effort showed in the quality of the event! Thank you to the teachers who stayed to support out Open House in conjunction with the Unity Festival.
We are winding down our heavy testing period and have a short break before finals and the end of the year. This week, we will be administering the Kelvin Pulse Survey to all students – this will be the second administration of this survey and we will review the data in comparison to the initial administration.
One metric we identified from the first administration was that approximately 50% of students responded negatively to the question: “I know how to manage my stress.” This resulted in De-Stress week. There was other information we gained from the survey and we look forward to reviewing changes in the following groups:
- Lead Teacher Meetings
- Department/Staff Meetings
- Equity Team Meetings

Week 6 - Race and Equity
Weeks 1 through 5 challenges were focused on personal reflection.
For the next challenges, we will shift focus to a broader view of
racial equity and social justice by contextualizing the
institutional and systemic factors of racism and other
marginalization of peoples. The reflection questions still focus
on you, the individual, and how you operate within the broader
context.

Weekly Updates from the WCHS Counseling Team
The Counseling Calendar is now on the Foundation website. Click here for a video tutorial on how to add WCHS calendars to your personal Google calendar or follow these steps: 1) Go to https://wc-fe.org/. 2) Scroll all the way down on the home page to the calendar. 3) At the bottom right of the calendar, select the + sign next to where it says “Google Calendar.” (Your Google calendar opens up if you are already signed in.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Unity Festival! Special thanks to our planning committee and student and parent volunteers!
And thank you also to ASB, Ms. Moore, and our parent volunteers for making Staff Appreciation Week extra special for staff!
Seniors: to those who applied for the ten Foundation scholarships: the Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee will start reviewing your applications next week. The recipients will be notified at the Senior Breakfast on June 8th!
